As a preamble to the upcoming changes from PAS2035:2019 (and PAS2030:2019) to PAS2035:2023 (and PAS2030:2023), Assured Safety are offering a Retrofit Design-Only Service to assist Installers and Retrofit Coordinators to ensure they are ahead of the curve with changes to the Retrofit Design Guidance with Designs now having to be produced by an experienced, Chartered Designer.
Retrofit Designer Services
To assist with ongoing compliance and to minimise issues with Trustmark Lodgement, Assured Safety can assist Retrofit Coordinators on an Independent, Design-Only basis.
Why will this be needed?
Previously under the PAS Standard, the Retrofit Coordinator was able to act as the Retrofit Designer, however, in line with the changes to the standard, effective from the 1st of April 2025, outlined in PAS2035:2023 Retrofit Design Guidance – Rev 00, the Retrofit Designer must now be qualified as per below, and must be a:
* A chartered architectural technologist (MCIAT or FCIAT) registered by the Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists (CIAT);
* An architect registered by the Architects Registration Board (ARB);
* A professional member of the Chartered Institute of Building (MCIOB or FCIOB), or,
* A chartered building surveyor (MRICS or FRICS).

What will the Retrofit Design Include?
Delivered as a final report, ready to provide to your Installers, the Retrofit Design document encompasses all elements of the installation/s and provides a rigorous framework for Retrofit Installers to complete the installation to.
The Retrofit Design will be produced, bespoke and customised to each project ensuring accuracy during the installation process, designed to ensure that installers have relevant information, at hand during this critical process.
The Retrofit Design will include floor plans to detail the project location and outline the specific measures to be installed, including any sequencing.
The design will include the manufacturers installation instructions, and any BBA Certificates, as appropriate for easy reference and will include further guidance on mitigating thermal bridges and provide any relevant design details relating to the specific system being installed.
